Happy birthday mkitty3!
I love you to bits. And no, I didn't have time to write you a special birthday fic. I feel bad, but it's very busy at my work right now. How about a birthday paragraph, and hopefully I can write you something acceptable at a later date.
( Wincest, sure...but nothing dirty )

Am I the only one who thought the finale was a complete mess. That is was rushed and abandonned strong, consistent characterisation for the sake of its twists? That it completely overdid the rooftop scene? Packing on sinister deed after sinnister deed in a misguided attempt to heighten the impact when instead it just strayed into absurdity? News flash, writers: CRASHING A BUS IS EVIL ENOUGH. You don't need to pointlessly pile on a rape and an extra murder whilst the villain cackles meniacally. I think they blew it, because it would have been heartbreaking for me if it was a desperate and confused act rather than one thing in a long list of misdeeds by a surprise psychopath.
Yeah. I'm pissed. And I feel all alone in my seething hatred of the way they mishandle this. Although I loved the hit on Aaron. That makes me like Duncan. Heh.

You know, sometimes the TWOP really pisses me the fuck off. I'm working with two warnings now. I can't believe it. I hardly ever post. And the second warning is ludicrous. Someone complained about a contestant thread in AI being overrun by negative comments and I quoted and posted "I hear yah." I got a warning for that. Unbelieveable. I think it's because I was already running one warning, but really. I'm not a damned trouble maker. I'm pretty much a lurker. I guess I should stay one.

So normally I don't do the meme thing. But this one sort of caught my interest. I don't want to go to 20, so I'll just do a a top 10, if that's alright. Oh, and I totally brought pictures. Also, these aren't really in order. In fact, I don't know I could order them if I tried.( Pretty, pretty people )

Well, Canada has a new Prime Minister. Fuckin' Stephen mother-fuckin' Harper. I'm excited; can't you tell? A Conservative minority government. Well, I'll say this: it beats a Conservative majority.
(For anyone not familiar with the Canadian voting system, we've got four major parties, only two of which ever take leadership: The Liberals and The Conservatives. They are roughly equivalent to the Democrats and the Republicans, respectively. We also have the NDP, who represent the left and the Bloc Quebequois who are French seperatists. A minority govenment means that no one party calls the shots because they need the backing of another party to get anything passed. Minority government means instability and another election close on the tail of this one.)
On the up side, over 60% turn-out.

| Batman Begins Video |
[19 Dec 2005|08:25pm] |
I've started to think that over-explaining a video takes a lot of the fun out of watching it because it denies the viewer the ability to impose his/her own reading. So I'll try to keep this short.
The son is Psychopomp by a Canadian band named The Tea Party. A psychopomp is the facilator of a deceased soul's journey into the afterlife. You would be correct to assume that the psychopomp in question here is indeed the Batman. But that's secondary to the more important issue and more interesting question, which is: who is the dead soul?
I'm pretty sure you've got that one nailed, too.
As always, thanks to mkitty3 who is my beta and friend. One day you will be off the dial-up, and we will rejoice. ;)
For a decent 15MB zip file download here.
But if you are wanting something a little higher quality (which, having a video card in my computer, I often do) a 32MB zip file is here.
WMV files a shit quality, anyway. But I don't have any way of saving to a different file type while still keeping the size down. So I guess I'll live with it.
Please don't download both, because that's wasteful of bandwidth. Feedback won't stop the crushing self-doubt, but it will help. :) Love you guys.

I just saw Brokeback Mountain, and it is utterly devastating. That's almost all I can say about it. It's just devastating. And it makes me ache so badly I almost want to undo it in my mind. This one hurts, people. And I was prepared for it to hurt, so the extent to which it broke my cynical little heart is surprising.

For everyone who wished me a happy birthday, thanks! Unfortunately, I won't have my Batman vid done for a few more weeks. School has been insane. I'm still desperately trying to finish up my ten pendants for my jewellery final due thursday, and I just started my holloware project today, which is due friday. Yikes! So I've had no time. One day I was in studio for 24 hours without sleeping. I am just swamped. But soon.
And thanks for the rec, enderwiggin24!

You know how when you set a deadline for yourself it helps you get going? Well that's what I'm doing. I will have a new video (Batman Begins) out by my birthday, as a present to myself because I have been way to slack about vidding. It's been almost a year. Gah!
So if I post it, I must do it. Right?
I've been very busy with school. I'm a student of jewellery and metalsmithing, and my midterms were killing me. Oy! So glad to have it over with. I was in the studio until midnight for pretty much the last two weeks straight. I need to find a digital camera so I can show you guys my work. I'm quite pleased with the projects. The necklace I made for the jewellery midterm is a little wild.

Anyone rip the alternate version of Lex's nightmare from Scare? I haven't seen it posted anywhere, and I'm curious to see it. Does anyone know of it's existence on the net?

I removed my last entry because I shouldn't be such an arrogant ass, even when I'm frustrated. Which is hard, because I am, in fact, an arrogant ass. Admittedly. Find me an art student that doesn't have an ego and I'll find you one not long for the art world.
For the people who responded: I don't remake songs, because I consider it disrespectful to the original vidder to do so. If I had known someone else had vidded Weapon, my version would certainly not exist. If the other version came after, that is out of my control. But I think that redoing a song within the smae fandom is sort of insulting to the original vidder. If you can argue that it's not, I'm certainly interested to hear the reasons, because I would like to be able to justify it, but can't.
As for taking vidding seriously, yeah. I'm that sort of person that takes everything seriously. Which makes me annoying. But I go to art school, and am constantly frustrated by people doing half-assed work. I do realise it's a hobby, and I should chill. And I have been there with Mkitty from her earliest vids, and do know that vidders need time to become truly great. (And I love you, Mkitty. Because you are truly great, and you took little time for that brilliance to become undeniable.) I'm just frustrated because many never do take it seriously. And by seriously I mean that they actually take enough time to have it hold together as a video. I don't need fancy effects or any of that crap. But cut to the fucking beat, people.
As for Yousendit, I do understand that people might not have the money. I'm pretty broke, and wish like hell I wasn't paying for hosting. So you do what you have to do. But I will continue to find expiring links damned annoying. Don't make me chase you down to see your vid. I understand the reasons, but I'm still frustrated by the outcome. But I was rude before. My apologies.

| I went nowhere on Summer vacation... |
[12 Aug 2005|08:18am] |
...and all I got was these lousy addictions.
I have hooked myself on two new shows. I guess I'm an easy catch, so it's no big surprise, but damn... House and Veronica Mars. House I love because I love the characters, and I didn't even think I was getting in to VM at all until... well... Logan. And the LoVe. And what can I do? There is nothing like a hopeless ship to make me need to watch more. It's funny, because what keeps me with VM isn't the characterization. I don't care about Veronica or Weevil and especially not Duncan (soooo boring). And it isn't the plot of the week, because those are usually so high school. But damned if the over arching plot didn't keep me around. I feel like I prefer individual House episodes to individual VM episodes, but as a season VM kicks ass.
So the thing: I can't really afford either boxed set. I'm poor. I by no means can buy both, so don't even ask. But I also can't vid with .avi files, and need to rip .mpg. So basically, if I buy one, I vid it. The one I don't buy, gets nothing. If I vid House it will be a character study of House to some solid classic rock, and if I vid VM it will be something more recent, and it will probably be Veronica and Logan centric. Oh, and you can click the SV button, but your vote will be ignore. Seriously.

Yee gads! I'm going to make this easy on myself, as this "do you read me?" meme is going to get on my nerves if I actually have to answer it in everyone's journal: If you are on my f-list, I read your journal. I might scan through it if it's not something I'm interested in, but I read you enough to know when I want to click the cut or not. I just am not much of a comment writer.
We cool?
I'm bummed because Premiere crashes when I try to use .avi files, and I wanted to fiddle around with a House vid, but all the eps are .avi. This pisses me off. I want to be vidding, and I have a song that might just work well with House. I really want to be vidding Batman, but I don't have the source yet. I do, however, have a song that is pretty badass. Just you all wait. This is going to be a good one.

| Help! Comics question! |
[21 Jul 2005|09:38pm] |
There was a gorgeous batman comic that someone on my f-list posted a scan off a few months ago. It looked like oil painting. It had Batman and the Joker and Arkham, and the Joker looked unlike any version I have ever seen before. It was just stunning. I need some info. I'm looking to track down the illustrator of that comic, so the name of the comic itself, or of the illustrator, would be very greatly appreciated.
Was it thecaelum? You post scans a lot.

Letting my journal go back to unpaid status. I'm poor, and I don't post enough to warrant keeping this going. Sorry that your lovely mood theme is going to be unusable for me soon, mkitty3. But you know how it is with money and not having it.
On vidding front, I'm obsessed with House, but find it unviddable. I mean, are there any songs that are appropriate for a non-shippy House vid? I'm thinking House is a classic rock kind of guy. *ponders*
